Its basic tenet states that recovery from drug addiction requires spiritual growth, in addition to abstinence from drug use. The history of how one former addict stopped using drugs was determined through with panel research interviews. His spiritual growth biography (i.e., the record of his spiritual growth) was obtained thanks to his detailed diary. This addict has become an active participant in NA meetings, which can be interpreted as a sign of his spiritual growth. Small events, such as feeling content after having good meeting participation and accepting a secretary position for an NA group, were recorded together with the dates in his diary, which enabled reconstruction of the biography of his spiritual growth.},
